HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA / GED PROGRAM
at Fairfax, Hamilton and University High School Campuses

Adults may earn a high school diploma after completing 170 credits and passing the state mandated proficiency exams -- California High School Ext Exam (CAHSEE) effective 2006. Credits previously earned through attendance at any accredited secondary school are accepted. Credits may also be granted for paid work experience and military service. INDIVIDUALIZED INSTRUCTION

Westside Education and Career Center offers Individualized Learning Labs (Learning Centers) for high schools studetns after their regular school day at Fairfax, Hamilton, University and Pacific Palisades High Schools. The labs are open from 3:15-6:15 pm for students who are able to work independently through the use of programmed and invidualized materials. Enrollement is open and continuous.

The Individualized Instruction labs (Learning Centers) offer an opportunity to earn credits required to receive the high school diploma. The program is designed for students with varying educational needs, classes may be completed at the students' own pace. All new adult students must take a placement test before enrolling in classes. Adult students may work in the lab as many days as their schedules permit and may enroll at any time through the school year. Call (323) 370-1040 for more detailed information.

TEACHER DIRECTED CLASS

These classes are taught at our University campus. Classes meet two evenings per week for 12 weeks. Students must start at the beginning of the term. Please call (310) 914-3565 for classes and start dates.

ADULT INDEPENDENT (HOME) STUDY

Adult Independent Study (AIS) program is available at the Fairfax, Hamilton, Palisades and University Campuses. The program is designed to permit greater flexibility for those students who are motivated to achieve educational objectives ina self-directive environment. Students interested in this program must pass an assessment test prior to enrollment.

PARENT EDUCATION

This home study program allos students to earn up to 15 high school electives credits in Parent Education. Students meet weekly with instructor to review progress and collect new materials. Non-credit English as a Second Language and Citizenship courses are also available.

Concurrently enrolled high school students may enroll in adult school courses with the approval of the home high school counselor and a parent or guardian if under 18 years of age.
